Amanda Meyer, from the Attorney General’s Office, will do unclaimed property searches for you, show you how to do them yourself, check your credit and how to report anything fraudulent on it, also, how to freeze your credit when necessary. There are over 300 million dollars in our state’s lost and found – legally, companies, places of business, banks, and any other institution that is holding a citizen’s money has to turn it in to the state. It is kept 25 years and if not claimed it is used in the general fund. Find out what you may be missing. There will be informational handouts. After the program, Amanda will have a booth in the main library floor from 12 - 2 p.m. to do additional unclaimed property searches for patrons who can’t make it to the program.
