Interlibrary Loan

If SCPL does not carry a particular title, a patron may request the book or magazine article from another library through Interlibrary Loan (ILL). The request is made by filling out an ILL request form at the Reference Desk. This service is available to patrons with an SCPL card. Non-resident patrons need to request Interlibrary Loans from their home library.

  • It takes an average of 2 weeks to receive ILL materials. The patron will be called when the material  comes in. Requests for maps, complete magazines or newspapers, and materials newer than 6 months may not be requested.
  • There is a limit of 3 requests per person at a time.
  • The lending library determines how long the loan period will be.
  • Not all lending libraries allow renewals. If you would like to renew an ILL book, please let the Reference staff know 5 days ahead of the due date. We will do our best to get a renewal for you, but we cannot guarantee one.
  • Since ILL materials are borrowed from other libraries, we charge a larger overdue fine for ILL books. The overdue fine for ILL books is $1.00 per day.
